Explosions rock Kabul as Taliban launch coordinated attacks

At least one person has been killed and 39 wounded as Taliban suicide bombers targeted Afghan security force facilities at two locations in Kabul.

The Afghan Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement on its website. At least 15 people were killed and dozens were injured, according to government officials, after a vehicle bomb exploded at a police building and suicide bombers attacked Afghanistan's main intelligence agency.

The carnage underscores rising insecurity from the resurgent Taliban in the war-scarred country.

On Wednesday, a auto rigged with explosives was rammed into the back wall of the police compound in southwestern Kabul, touching off a gun battle that raged for several hours.
