Backed SDF says it can capture Syrian city of Raqqa

Their presence is meant to prevent the possibility of Turkish troops and USA -backed Kurdish forces attacking each other.

The Kurdish Firat news agency said five SDF-allied troops were buried on Friday.

At least eight Syrian soldiers were killed by the Turkish Artillery against the city of Manbij and the Kurdish-Arab units had handed over to government forces just 24 hours ago, military sources reported today. The plan's consisted of a strategy that would probably increase the number of USA troops in to better advise and assist the US-backed Syrian fighters who will go through the battle for Raqqa.

Numerous firefighters battling the blaze had just come from straight from the funeral of a retired firefighter who died of cancer. Wolfson said the agency plans to investigate the Friday night fire, which local authorities attributed to a charging hoverboard.

"The number of our forces is now increasing, particularly from among the people of the area, and we have enough strength to liberate Raqqa with support from the coalition forces", spokeswoman Jihan Sheikh Ahmed said.

Abdul-Rahman added that the Kurdish-led groups and the backing US forces have besieged Raqqa from several directions. Calling it a mission to "reassure and deter", USA officials say the troops, with light combat vehicles and visible American flags, are to keep a lid on the tensions brewing in the increasingly crowded battlefield.

"Their raids against ISIS...happened without the cooperation or the consultation with the Syrian Army or the Syrian government which is illegal", he said, using an acronym for the Islamic State group.

As a result, Ankara has effectively unified Russian Federation and the U.S.in the goal of limiting Turkish expansion in the north. Syria experts say Ankara has lost influence to realize its aim of pushing the Kurdish forces back to the east of Manbij across the Euphrates.

The military can have up to 503 USA forces in Syria, according to the existing limits put in place by the Obama administration, however, the temporary personnel aren't included in the cap.

But McCain questioned whether the Trump administration recognized the seriousness of the situation, or how important Turkish cooperation is to U.S. efforts to retake Raqa.

Coalition spokesman U.S. Air Force Colonel John Dorrian said the additional U.S. forces would be working with local partners in Syria - the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian Arab Coalition - and would not have a front line role.

On Tuesday, the Minbij Military Council, which is part of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), handed areas west of Minbij to Syrian government forces, part of an agreement brokered by Russian Federation. In fact, the Financial Times notes that USA forces hung American flags on the gates of Manbij to send a signal that might prevent "a possible skirmish between the varied forces arrayed around the town".

The divisions highlight that the offensive is important not only to push ISIS out of its de facto capital but also because it threatens to inflame the complex dynamic among the groups vying for power within the Syrian civil war.

Maintaining peace between the groups in Manbij will be crucial if they will work together in the battle for Raqqa.
