For the 13th time, the Kansas Jayhawks are a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.
Obviously Kansas is the favorite, with Louisville and OR rounding things out. Although the Cardinals exited the ACC tournament in the quarterfinals with a loss to eventual champion Duke, they have the depth and go-to guy (Donovan Mitchell) every championship contender needs. One of those teams in each matchup is overseeded. Despite the fact that OR has lost Chris Boucher for the rest of the year, that's a team that should still be able to find a way to make the Sweet Sixteen. And it was extra emotional for tournament MVP Martin, a sophomore guard whose Atlanta-based family doesn't get to see her play in person often, but was in Oklahoma to watch her soar. The small-ball Cyclones can beat anyone, but can also lose to anyone if their guards can't produce enough to make up for a below-average frontline.
Michigan State coach Tom Izzo reacts to a call during the Big Ten Tournament. Two of Michigan's road losses (Iowa and Minnesota) went into overtime, and another (Northwestern) ended on one of the craziest plays of the college basketball season.
Almost a third of west Mosul recaptured from IS: Iraq general
In the early days of the Iraqi Security Force advance on Mosul, almost 100 corpses were discovered decapitated in a mass grave. The Iraqi military and its allies have almost defeated Islamic State in its final and largest Iraqi stronghold of Mosul.
On paper, this might be the weakest of the four regions. They were awarded the No. 2 seed in the Midwest region, and they'll be taking on Jacksonville State in the Round of 64. Few programs, if any, are set up better than Kansas in that department entering this year's tournament, where leading scorers Frank Mason III, Devonte' Graham and Josh Jackson will look to lead the Jayhawks back to the Final Four.
A missed layup off of dribble penetration is still a great play because the weakside rebounding opportunities are there and I'd bet that's how so many of Oklahoma State's second chance opportunities come around. He's done a good job there but it's ok not to like him for a weekend. He got used to being disappointed in his team's seed.
Michigan State G Miles Bridges: This might be the weakest Spartans' team in years, but Bridges is worth the price of admission. That said, this region lacks the top-end star power of the East and South.
Ireland ladies continue 100% record in Six Nations
Wales sowed up the victory in the 78th minute when Roberts touched down after a brilliant block down of Sexton's kick. No sooner had the replacement come on then Wales sprang from a line-out.
If Miami is able to beat Michigan State in the first round, it will face the victor of Kansas vs. NC Central or UC Davis. They like to get up and down the court and will be extra motivated for an in-state rival. It had lost to the Anteaters by 30 points a week earlier. The loss against the Blue Devils isn't the first time charity stripe has harmed the team this year. I had Cincinnati a 5 and Iowa State a 6. JaCorey Williams, Giddy Potts and Reggie Upshaw lead a Blue Raiders team with 30 wins and a taste for more upsets after beating Michigan State past year.
To begin the non-conference schedule, the young Spartans faced two juggernauts to start the season. The offense still is one of the best around, ranked 27th in the country in batting average (.312), and 22nd in runs per game (8.0). He was excited for the opportunity to compete against Miami and possibly Kansas in the round of 32 on Sunday. But their bigs aren't players who dominate the low post. I like the Bulldogs' depth, but they are prone to some struggles on the offense.
Someone's going to make a run. The Big 12 Conference opener was at home with West Virginia against Underwood's old boss and a mentor in Bob Huggins, who his SFA team had beaten in the NCAA Tournament the season before.
Harry Kane could be out for the rest of the season
The icing on the cake was a first goal from open play in the 79th minute for Spurs' under-achieving striker Janssen. Son's third came in stoppage time, a volley that slipped through the clutches of hapless Millwall keeper Tom King.
