Cotton dazzles as A's spoil Royals' home opener with 2-0 win

Ventura passed away this January in a auto wreck in the Dominican Republic.

The mother of the 25-year-old Ventura, Marisol Hernandez, threw out the first pitch before the game against the Oakland A's.

'It's a tough day, ' said another one of Ventura's good friends, shortstop Alcides Escobar.
