In the first home game of the 2017 season, the Kansas City Royals were ready to honor former pitcher Yordano Ventura with his family in attendance.
Before the first pitch, the Royals showed a video tribute to Ventura, who spent the past three seasons with the major league club and whose slight build belied a powerful arm and a willingness, if not eagerness, to antagonize opposing hitters.
Ventura passed away this January in a auto wreck in the Dominican Republic.
