Nasa delays debut launch of moon rocket and capsule

"While it's ethically feasible", NASA acting administrator Robert Lightfoot told reporters, "[the feasibility study] really affirmed the baseline plan we had in place". After conducting a study at the request of the Trump administration, agency officials have ruled out putting a crew on board the first flight of the huge rocket.

"NASA determined it is technically capable of launching crew on EM-1, but after evaluating cost, risk and technical factors in a project of this magnitude, it would be hard to accommodate changes needed to add crew at this point in mission planning", the agency said in a statement.

The pushback to 2019 was not unexpected - there had already been grumblings that indicated there was no way NASA would meet its original 2018 launch date. Doing so would have meant changes to the EM-1 rocket and spacecraft, which was planned to fly without humans, and solving engineering challenges, like the life-support system, that the agency had scheduled for the build out of the second, crewed exploration mission, called EM-2. They cautioned against looking at any one launch individually in terms of either cost or schedule, but to consider the program as a whole.

Men spin-off New Mutants casts Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams
New Mutants lands in theatres on April 13th, 2018, so it shouldn't be too much longer now before the rest of the roles are cast. The character's name of Illyana Nikolievna Rasputina appeared on Stryker's computer screen in X2: X-Men United.

NASA is reviewing the production schedules across the enterprise, projected delivery of the European Service Module, first time production issues related to the Core Stage that is at the leading edge of new manufacturing, and the ongoing impact of the February tornado that directly affected the Michoud Assembly Facility in Louisiana. It did not say then, nor today, when in 2019 they are aiming for.

That excludes $9 billion spent on the mothballed Constellation lunar exploration programme, which included initial development of the Orion and a second heavy-lift rocket.Initially, the SLS rocket, which uses engines left over from the space shuttle programme and shuttle-derived solid rocket boosters, will have the capacity to put about 77 tons (70 metric tons) into an orbit about 100 miles (160 km) above Earth.

We are grateful for the near-term flexibility offered by the FY 2017 Consolidated Appropriations Act, and we are confident that we remain technically capable of launching crew on EM-1.

When asked about any regretful tattoos, Schumer not only turned her paddle to "I have" but she also placed it on her lower back.

In any case, EM-2, featuring an astronaut crew, would be launched atop a Block 1B SLS rocket in the late 2021 timeframe. Meanwhile, ground systems and software continue development at the Kennedy Space Center. An exact date will be decided upon in the coming months.

So for now, it seems that NASA will stick with its original strategy for debuting the SLS: doing an uncrewed flight first, followed by a crewed mission.

"After evaluating cost, risk, and technical factors in a project of this magnitude, it is hard to accommodate changes needed for a crewed EM-1 mission at this time", NASA's acting administrator, Robert Lightfoot, sent in an email to agency employees that was obtained by The Verge. "So we knew those had to get added in".
