Stone vows to cooperate with Senate committee

In a joint statement, Chairman Richard Burr, R-N.C., and Vice Chairman Mark Warner, D-Va., said that Flynn had declined an earlier request to provide the records voluntarily. The US government concluded late past year that Russian agents had sought to influence the outcome of the US election and were behind the hacking and release of emails of both the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman John Podesta.

The timing surrounding Flynn's firing continues to haunt the White House.

The move ramps up its months-long investigation of Moscow's alleged meddling in the 2016 USA presidential election.

There was an 18-day gap between the heads up from former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates regarding Flynn's activities with the Russians and his removal by the White House.

Flynn resigned his national security adviser position in February after he admitted to misleading the administration about conversations he had with the Russian ambassador to the U.S.

"Director Clapper reiterated what everybody, including the fake media already knows-there is "no evidence" of collusion w/Russia and Trump".

A day earlier, Burr said the committee was prepared to issue a subpoena - the first from the Intelligence Committee since the investigation of 9/11 - though they would prefer not to.

"General Flynn has a story to tell, and he very much wants to tell it, should the circumstances permit", it begins.

"I've said from the beginning that our intentions are to get information from all the individuals of interest, and I will go to whatever lengths I feel necessary", Burr said in a brief hallway interview at the Capitol, hours before Trump fired Comey Tuesday.

But senior Democrats said he had recently asked the Justice Department for more resources for his Trump-Russia investigation.

Trump urges Russian Federation to rein in Syrian ally
We want to see the killing, the frightful killing, stopped in Syria as soon as possible and everyone is working toward that end. Several ceasefires have been agreed on since Syria's conflict broke out, but they have failed to stem the fighting.

Flynn's contacts with the Russian government are also being examined by the FBI's investigation of possible links between Trump campaign officials and Russian meddling in the elections.

In a farewell letter to staff, Mr Comey said he would not "spend time on the decision or the way it was executed".

Sen. James Lankford, a Republican on the Senate intelligence committee, told Fox News Wednesday evening that the panel had "subpoenaed a large number of documents".

Flynn was sacked by Trump after less than one month on the job.

He also said he called on Comey to ask for an update on a possible criminal investigation into his ties with Russian Federation.

North Korea accuses US, South Korea of assassination attempt
On Monday, President Donald Trump admitted that he'd be "honored" to meet with the North Korean dictator. North Korea warned this week that USA hostility had brought the region to the brink of nuclear war.

"I want to get to the bottom if Russian Federation or anybody is trying to tamper or play with our election", Trump told Fox News' Jeanine Pirro.
