Oregon Ducks Can't Hold On vs Oklahoma Sooners

The third-seeded Oregon Ducks matched their deepest run at the Women's College World Series, but couldn't surpass it.

The tenth seeded Sooners will face the one seeded University of Florida.

Oregons Megan Kleist (22) throws a pitch during the Womens College World Series softball game between the University of Oklahoma (OU) Sooners and OR at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Sunday, June 4, 2017.

"We're a 10-seed playing a one-seed", said Gasso. The Oregon Defense could not cope with several plays that allowed Oklahoma to score four runs in the inning. They also won back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015, something that the Sooners are trying to swing this time out. The fifth started with Lea Wodach reaching base on a throwing error by OR catcher Gwen Svekis that allowed her to take second base. Two batters later, junior Nicole Pendley ripped a double down the right field line, scoring Knighten with Oklahoma's fourth run.

OR was unable to threaten the Sooners the rest of the way, going down in order in the sixth and seventh innings.

Predators reach first Stanley Cup final
The Ducks had a chance to complete the comeback when Roman Josi took a delay-of-game penalty for shooting the puck over the glass. As we expected, the games would be tight; the first two games were decided by one goal with each team winning one.

In the second inning, Sammie Puentes singled, stole second and scored on a wild pitch with two outs.

OR scratched out two more runs on a bases loaded RBI double, taking a 7-4 lead into the bottom of the seventh.

OR threatened in the top of the third with a leadoff double by Lauren Lindvall but was unable to get her any closer to home. "I think there's only so many times that you can put yourself in the bottom of the seventh, but I'm so proud of my team because we very well easily could have rolled over after losing the first game and we fought every inning until the very last one".

Then Shay Knighten, who had been quiet in the College World Series, lofted a ball just inside the rightfield line for a 3-2 OU lead.

It was just the kind of clutch performance the Ducks (53-7) will need when they play defending national champion Oklahoma in the semifinals on Sunday.

An earlier video released by cops showed Woods outside his auto and unsteady on his feet as police had him walk a straight line. His $200,000 Mercedes, which he was found asleep in the driver's seat of, has extensive damage to the wheels and front bumper.

Oregon, which won its first 35 games this season, finished 54-7.

Florida 5, Washington 2: Delaney Gourley was almost ideal, giving Florida a chance for its third national championship in four years. The victor will meet Oklahoma for the bracket championship on Sunday afternoon. However, Gourley ended the Washington threat by getting Trysten Melhart to ground out to first. She bunted, and though the ball was moving towards foul territory, OR catcher Gwen Svekis picked it up and made an errant throw to first.

Just hours after she fought out of a bases-loaded jam to earn a save against Baylor, she threw a complete game to help OR defeat LSU 4-1 in a Women's College World Series elimination game Saturday night. Whether in right field, where she earned most of her starts, or more recently at third base, she is part of an outstanding defense. She parlayed that into a dominant outing against LSU, allowing only a second-inning home run and striking out nine, two off her season-high. Florida senior Delanie Gourley, who has plenty of WCWS experience, pitched her Gators to a semifinal win over Washington on Sunday. But third baseman Jenna Lilley muffed the throw and Ellis scored Baylor's first run.

After Taylor Ellis led off the inning with a hit by pitch, Sydney Christensen broke up the no-hit bid with a single up the middle.

With the loss, the Huskies wrap up their 2017 campaign with a 50-14 record and a 12th appearance in the WCWS.
