American Patriots Don't Criticize Trump to Foreigners, Most Republicans Believe

Among independents, CNN still got the higher trust rating of 55 percent against Trump's 40 percent. Among independents, CNN's lead is even greater at 15 points. Nearly nine in 10 Republicans say they trust Trump more than CNN, whereas 91 percent of Democrats say they trust the cable news channel more than the president.

As per the survey, the voters also showed more trust in other news networks like NYT, WaPo, ABC, CBS, etc.

In the poll conducted among 1,205 adults from June 21-25, 20 percent said the overall tone and level of civility in Washington between Republicans and Democrats has stayed the same and 6 percent said it has improved.

This survey comes on the heels of the latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll that also showed similar partisan divisions, noting that only 30 percent of Americans have some degree of trust in the media, a number that plunges to 9 percent among Republicans. Republicans polled, however, had a similarly disproportionate trust in the president.

But Republicans and Democrats in Congress have clashed over a bevy of issues since Trump took office, including immigration, climate change and healthcare, which has been the subject of intense debate for months, as GOP members of Congress push forward with efforts to repeal and replace ObamaCare.

CNN isn't the only news outlet which is trusted more than the president, since the same happened when respondents were asked to choose between him or Washington Post/New York Times or ABC/CBS/NBC.

Meanwhile, SurveyMonkey SVP Jon Cohen told Axios that "a red flag for Democrats continues to be a perception that Trump is isolating himself from the GOP base with his tweets".

The survey has a margin of error of 2.8 percentage points.
