"Planet Of The Apes" Conquers North American Box Office

New release "War for the Planet of the Apes" won this weekend's war for box office supremacy in North America, riding on strong reviews and ever more natural-looking apes to take in an estimated $56.5 million.

2014's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was a bigger hit with a US$72.6 million domestic opening, when it hit theaters against the third weekend of Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Delta hits back against conservative author Ann Coulter
Delta responded in perhaps the ideal way, not riling up Coulter but acknowledging that such abusive behavior is not acceptable. After Delta released its statement, Coulter continued to attack the airline and her critics on Twitter .

Both films have managed to score well with critics and audiences, but, clearly, there is an evident sequel fatigue. The movie brought in just under $19 million its third week out.

"War", directed by Matt Reeves, tells the continuing story of how intelligent primate Caesar (Andy Serkis) and other apes battle the forces led by an evil human dictator (Woody Harrelson). The PG-13 horror film opened below the high single digits that the studio was hoping for, let down by a poor marketing campaign that did nothing to distinguish it and poor reviews at just 20% on Rotten Tomatoes.

In the US , the Washington D.C. metropolitan area subway management did not permit posters condemning the coup attempt to be hung. Eser was detained earlier this month along with seven other rights activists and two foreign trainers.

Taking the second spot was Spider-Man: Homecoming, starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Michael Keaton, and Robert Downey Jr. Spider-Man 3 dropped by 62% in its second weekend in 2007 and there were no Thursday pre-shows back then to boost opening weekend numbers. The stylish heist movie earned $2.5 million on Friday from 3,043 locations and is tracking for an $8.75 million weekend, which will bring its box office total to $73.1 million. "Spider-Man: Homecoming" has now grossed over $208M since it debuted two-weeks ago. The film has $188 million domestically and $619.4 million worldwide. With next weekend bringing three new wide releases, including Christopher Nolan's latest, any movie will have a hard time holding over. Rounding out the top five is the independent film, The Big Sick, which expanded nationwide. Kumail Nanjiani and Zoe Kazan headline the acclaimed feature, which was written by Nanjiani and produced by Judd Apatow. Those who did venture out gave the film a dismal "C" rating on CinemaScore. Dunkirk is forecasted to open around $40 million, which would be enough to capture the top spot at the box office but not enough to reverse the box office malaise that should continue to get worse as we get closer to August. To date, it has only made $187.9 million.

Man stuck in cashpoint slips 'help me' note through slot
This is not all that surprising considering that "candid camera" shows do things just like this to see how people will react. It wasn't until someone actually took his notes seriously that the authorities were summoned to help the guy out.
