NIA conducts raids at residences of Hurriyat-G leaders

The NIA on Thursday raided the house of separatist leader Shabbir Shah's aide Zameer Thakur in connection with the terror funding case.

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front or JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested in Srinagar on Thursday.

The NIA has been probing several separatist leaders in the terror funding case.

In Srinagar, another NIA team raided the joint house of JKLF leader and one-time "District Commander" Shaukat Bakhshi and his brother Shakeel Bakhshi at Gausiya Colony, Bemina.

Earlier today, NIA raided Hurriyat leader Aga Hassan's residence in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam.

On Wednesday, two men, including a freelance photo-journalist, arrested yesterday for alleged stone-pelting in Kashmir Valley and mobilising support against security personnel through the social media, were on Wednesday sent to 10-day NIA custody for interrogation. The raid began at 4 a.m. and continued the whole day.

Mittal said that during the NIA searches, "FDs (fixed deposits) worth over Rs 1 crore and a lot of incriminating material, suspect financial records, property-related documents and electronic devices were seized".

Meanwhile, Chairmen of both the factions of Hurriyat Conference (HC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Maulvi Umar Farooq and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik have made a decision to protest and court arrest at the headquarters of National Investigation Agency (NIA) in New Delhi on Saturday.

Sources said the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest to prevent the separatist leaders from going to Delhi tomorrow. NIA has recently conducted many raids in connection with separatist leaders.

Malik was arrested from his Abi Guzar office in Srinagar and moved to the Central Jail, where he will be kept until September 11, as per reports. Among the arrested separatist leaders includes Gelani's son-in-law Altaf Ahmad Shah alias Altaf Funtoosh.

Meanwhile, the Kashmir Bar Association has announced continuation of its strike on Friday against the summoning of its president Mian Qayoom by the National Investigation Agency or NIA. It is pertinent to mention that united resistance leadership has chose to go to Delhi on 9th September and court arrest before NIA.

NIA investigated the whole matter as a case registered on May 30 in which the leader of the Pakistan-based Jamaat-ud-Dawa and banned terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hafiz Saeed, was named as an accused.
