President Trump's latest move vs immigrants

Every Congress since (Democratic and Republican) has broken that promise, not just to the president but to the American people.

City business leaders voiced concern on Friday about the dismantling of a program protecting hundreds of thousands of immigrants brought to the USA illegally as children, saying that in addition to uprooting members of the community, it could cost the state millions in economic output.

The average age of DACA recipients who participated in the study is 25.2 years old, the average age of participants when they arrived in the United States is 6.5. He said those who had DACA status may now be living in fear of being deported.

According to the Q-C Hispanic Chamber, since 2012 "we have seen the numerous benefits from the DACA program to the USA economy, including $2 billion added to state and local taxes".

Despite the division among the Republicans, Trump is bent on canceling DACA. If their permits expire before March, 5, 2018, they are eligible to renew them for another two years as long as they apply by October 5, but the program isn't accepting new applications.

Gregory Chen, the American Immigration Lawyers Association's director of government relations, said the tweet didn't carry weight without more specific instructions by the Department of Homeland Security to agents in the field.

Trump has called the ending of the program an "amnesty-first approach".

Former President Barack Obama wrote in a statement to his Facebook on Tuesday that "u$3 ltimately, this is about basic decency".

The end of the immigration policy known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA could leave thousands of undocumented young people without federal protection from deportation.

Corzo said he didn't understand the benefits of DACA until he got older. Trump said his decision would include a six-month delay so Congress can codify the program into law, and he has threatened to revisit his decision if lawmakers fail to act.

But organizers of Sunday's march said the demonstration is also meant to protest Trump's plans to build a wall along the U.S./Mexico border. They argue that Obama overstepped the constitutional authority of the presidency.
