Mauricio Pochettino accuses Pep Guardiola of 'disrespect'

Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Winks was subject to a rejected loan bid from French side Nice last season, with boss Mauricio Pochettino refusing to allow the midfielder to depart White Hart Lane, according to Sportsmail.

Pochettino, who was Espanyol coach when Guardiola was in charge of city rivals Barcelona, said he was not personally offended by the comment, but added that it was hard to understand given that he never described Guardiola's legendary Barca side as "the Lionel Messi team".

Speaking after the 1-0 win at Chelsea that preserved City's place at the top of the table, Guardiola made the observation that pricked Pochettino's ears when running through the list of Premier League title contenders.

Spurs boss Pochettino claimed the comment was "ungentlemanly", but Guardiola said he would never be disrespectful about another team. That is my opinion like I respect his opinion, but I think the players motivation is the same.

I have a lot of friends - Mikel Arteta, Lorenzo Buenaventura, Eduardo Mauri - all his staff are very good friends of mine before they met him. But it's sad. A sad comment. It's not him. He's a great manager, one of the best managers in the world. It doesn't help him.

The 21-year-old, who has featured seven times for the North Londoners so far this term, with two of those in the starting line-up, has somewhat flown under the radar of most following the successes of fellow team-mates Harry Kane and Dele Alli in recent terms. "We're happy with the situation, it's a completely different situation to the beginning of the season".
