Following criticism, Twitter CEO says 'new rules' on abusive tweets coming soon

In a series of tweets, Dorsey mentioned that Twitter has been working to counteract its abuse problem for two years now, and that during the boycott, he saw many voices who were silencing themselves because the site "is *still* not doing enough".

He said the decision was announced late on Friday "because we spent the whole day working on it and wanted to announce as soon as we were ready".

According to Dorsey, the new rules will focus on stopping unwanted sexual advances, non-consensual nudity, hate symbols, violent groups, and tweets that glorify violence.

Celebrities including Chrissy Teigen and Mark Ruffalo were among those to join a boycott of the platform on Friday after Twitter briefly suspended McGowan's account last week.

One of the key sticking points will be the fate of Hamas's 25,000-strong military wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades. An Egyptian source close to the talks said intelligence chief Khaled Fawzi had followed the negotiations closely.

Dorsey has failed to specify exactly what those new rules are, but he said Twitter will share more details next week.

In a series of tweets, Dorsey mentioned how the company has chose to take an "aggressive stance" in the change of rules. We updated our policies and increased the size of our teams.

Twitter has long received staunch criticism over what users perceive as its repeated failure to curb toxic activities that appear on its site daily.

Without explaining how he planned to take action, Dorsey promised the group that Twitter would be responsive in future and that the changes would be implemented in the coming weeks. However, he also said that it's not as high a priority as enforcing rules on trolls and people putting out abusive tweets.
