United Nations dismisses Saudi conditions to reopen Yemen port

So far, Saudi wants to bring supplies into Yemen via the ports of Jizan and Aden, a plan McGoldrick said was unsafe and slow.

The U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted for a resolution declaring that U.S. military assistance to Saudi Arabia in its war in Yemen is not authorized under previous legislation which has given the president power to combat terror overseas and invade Iraq in 2003.

He added: "We believe that there should be a more robust verification mechanism in Hodeidah port and we want to work with the United Nations". "The continued closure by the Saudi-led coalition of critical seaports and airports is aggravating an already dire humanitarian situation".

Saudi Arabia announced on Monday that the Coalition Supporting Legitimacy in Yemen would begin gradually reopening airports and seaports in Yemen, days after closing them over a Houthi ballistic attack on Riyadh.

Keurig Pulls Ads From Sean Hannity's Program for A Major Reason
Initially, company Realtor.com had pulled their ads from Hannity's show as well, but have since backtracked on their statement. Senate Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said last week that Moore should step aside if the allegations are true.

He also said that the more the blockade tightens, the more the Houthis will develop their abilities to "respond to the assault of the enemy".

Zarif's plan calls for "a ceasefire and an immediate end to all military operations, unimpeded urgent humanitarian and medical assistance to the people of Yemen, resumption of Yemeni-led and Yemeni-owned national dialogue, with the participation of the representatives of all political parties and social groups, and establishment of an inclusive national unity government".

The announcement from the Saudi mission at the United Nations came after the coalition fighting Yemen's rebels, known as Houthis, faced widespread global criticism over the closure, with the U.N. and over 20 aid groups saying it could bring millions of already suffering people closer to "starvation and death".

The mission's announcement came in a statement early on Monday.

Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the UN Abdallah al-Mouallimi told reporters in NY on Monday that ports in government-controlled areas such as Aden, Mukalla and Mocha will be reopened, but demanded more rigorous checks at the Red Sea port of Hodeida.

It says those ports are in Aden, Mocha and Mukalla. The resolution does not address whether US support for the Saudi-led coalition in the conflict triggers the 1973 War Powers Resolution, which lawmakers are split over.

Iran denies arming the Houthis and blames the conflict in Yemen on Riyadh.
