CBS fires Charlie Rose amid sexual harassment allegations

The list of prominent men accused of sexual harassment is growing. Five others spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation.

"There are striking commonalities in the accounts of the women, each of whom described their interactions with Rose in multiple interviews with The Post", the newspaper points out.

The women, who were employees or aspired to work for Rose at the "Charlie Rose Show" from the late 1990s to as recently as 2011, told the newspaper he made unwanted sexual advances toward them, walked in the nude around them and groped their breasts, buttocks and genital areas.

USA talk show host Charlie Rose has been suspended by several television networks following allegations of sexual harassment. Rose, 75, however, also questioned the accuracy of the allegations in The Washington Post.

Shocking new data released from the Department of Defense, shows military sexual assaults are at an all-time high. The report breaks down sexual assault rates for each installation, which is the first time this has been done.

Responses to Rose's alleged behavior came fast from CBS, PBS, and Bloomberg. He said the move followed the revelation of "extremely disturbing and intolerable behavior" stemming from Rose's PBS show, Charlie Rose.

Rose's co-hosts on the morning show, Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell, were sharply critical of their colleague on Tuesday. "To the women who have not spoken up, or who are afraid, I'm hoping that now they will take the steps to speak out too, that this will become a moment of truth".

Several "described Rose putting his hand on their legs, sometimes their upper thigh". But the conversation between the two did not go as planned: Rather than discussing "the full scope" of the book and her story, Kelly explained, Rose was fixated on one particular topic.

'It is essential that these women know I hear them and that I deeply apologise for my inappopriate behaviour.

Rose issued a statement to the Post that he is "greatly embarrassed". "I have behaved insensitively at times, and I accept responsibility for that", Rose told the Post. I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realise I was mistaken. PBS said it hasn't yet considered what will replace the show; the service is providing member stations reruns of programs like "This Old House" and "Finding Your Roots" to fill holes in their schedule this week.

Said King: "I really am reeling". 'I never witnessed any unprofessional incidents'.

For her part, Vega, in a statement to the Post, said she should have protected the young women. "Both my son and my daughter called me; Oprah called me and said, 'Are you OK?' I am not OK". "I failed. It is crushing".
