Black Friday Gun Sales Break Record

Black Friday Gun Sales Break Record

Around the country on Black Friday, people shelled out money to buy a record amount of guns. That increase in sales wasn't just evident with people getting deals on Fitbits, Tamagotchis, and Nintendo games: Gun retailers also saw a huge jump in sales.

The FBI was overwhelmed with more than 200,000 background check requests for gun purchases on Black Friday, setting a new single-day record, the bureau announced on Saturday. The National Instant Criminal Background Check System, which allows most shoppers to buy a gun in minutes, is struggling under demand that has risen from 1 million requests for checks in 1998 to a record 27.5 million a year ago, NPR reports.

Mr Obama had previously told BBC News that his biggest regret as president was not passing "meaningful" gun reform during his time in office.

Michael Crabtree And Aqib Talib Sparked A Raiders-Broncos Fight
Crabtree and Talib previously had issues with each other, dating back to their skirmish during Week 17 of the 2016 season. The same fate could await Jackson, who was replaced by Jon Feliciano, and Crabtree and Talib are subject to fines.

"One could think they were going to purchase a gun and decide not to purchase a firearm or they could maybe purchase two on an approval, for example", Plessinger continued.

Donald Trump's pro-gun presidency has contributed to a slowdown in sales this year.

The FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) database system said they fielded 203,086 background checks on Black Friday, a day when United States retailers mark down prices on their products to kick off the annual holiday gift-shopping period.

Gene Frenette: If Mullen is next UF coach, solid choice for Gators
For the first time in nearly ten years, there will be a new head coach leading the Mississippi State Bulldogs. During that span, Mullen also worked with eventual Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Tim Tebow at Florida.

He directly pointed to the Sutherland Springs church shooting - and the Air Force's failure to report the suspected gunman's prior court-martial - as cause for concern.

In a statement, Sessions said he was directing the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives "to do a comprehensive review of the NICS and report back to me the steps we can take to ensure that those who are prohibited from purchasing firearms are prevented from doing so". Yet it has largely struggled to keep pace with the volume of firearm transactions and still properly maintain the databases of criminal and mental health records necessary to determine whether buyers are eligible to purchase guns.

"People should not be able to make their own assault weapons and other guns when those individuals are unsafe and legally barred from buying guns", Robyn Thomas, executive director of the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, told USA Today.
