Yankees will reportedly name Aaron Boone their new manager

Neither Boone nor Meulens have ever managed in the big leagues.

Boone, 44, is best known for his American League Championship Series Game 7-winning home run to extend the Red Sox curse in 2003 and send the Yankees to the World Series.

The Yankees have not officially announced the hiring, but sources such as ESPN's Buster Olney have confimed Boone will be the new skipper in the Bronx.

Aaron Boone played 12 seasons in the majors, mostly with Cincinnati, and spent only three months with the Yankees in 2003.

The Yankees signed Boone to return as their third baseman in 2004, but when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament playing basketball that January, the team traded for Alex Rodriguez and cut Boone, costing him most of his $5.75 million salary.

Michael Crabtree And Aqib Talib Sparked A Raiders-Broncos Fight
Crabtree and Talib previously had issues with each other, dating back to their skirmish during Week 17 of the 2016 season. The same fate could await Jackson, who was replaced by Jon Feliciano, and Crabtree and Talib are subject to fines.

More and more, managers are hired with little to no experience in the job.

Boone's grandfather, Ray, father, Bob, and brother, Bret, all played in the Majors, and his father managed the Reds (1995-97) and Royals (2001-03).

Still, the chances of the Yankees offering A-Rod their open manager job would be slim, considering the franchise's general manager, Brian Cashman, actually sought out the 42-year-old's advice about the vacant position, but not to see if the former slugger wanted the job, according to Newsday.

As things stand, Aaron Boone will be the next manager of the New York Yankees. "I think that's something that many of us relish in - the opportunity to have something on the line and a lot at stake is, I think, something that makes you want to go after it".

Cashman said that while there was no flawless candidate, "We're looking for someone like we had before: someone that we can work with and collaborate with and connect with in good times and in bad". Will Aaron Boone be able to take NY to the next step and bring home a 28th Commissioner's Trophy?

The nearby Navarro County emergency management agency identified 32-year-old Dabrett Black as a suspect in the fatal shooting. He then was accused of evading arrest, aggravated assault against a public servant and reckless driving in 2017.

In a conference call with reporters on November 17, after his interview with the Yankees, Boone said he would relish the high-pressure job of managing the storied franchise.

The Yankees, who for weeks had baseball's only managerial vacancy, also interviewed Rob Thomson, Eric Wedge, Chris Woodward, Carlos Beltran and Hensley Meulens, who was considered the runner-up to Boone.

"He definitely recognizes how much it's changed over the last couple years, five years, 10 years, to where - especially with analytics these days, it's a different job", Aaron Boone said.

Apparently, Boone was the guy who checked most of the boxes.
