Jon Gruden still won't say he's the next Raiders head coach

The ESPN broadcaster agreed on a 10-year, $100 million deal with the Oakland Raiders.

Tyler Bischoff hosts Coaches Corner on AM 720 KDWN Monday through Friday at 6:00 pm.

It started from the very beginning, when Gruden quickly dismissed McDonough's brief tribute by noting that nothing was official with regard to the Oakland job just yet.

The team announced the move Saturday as soon as Gruden finished his final broadcast as an announcer for ESPN.

Mariota leads Titans to 22-21 comeback win over Chiefs
They haven't won a home playoff game since January 1994, when Joe Montana was under center, and only two in their entire history. Ryan Succop hit a 49-yard field goal to cut the Chiefs' lead to 14-3 with 1:55 remaining in the first half.

There's no guarantee yet that Gruden and the Raiders will link up, 17 years after he led them to an AFC Championship Game and 15 years after he led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to victory in Super Bowl XXXVIII against Oakland. Ditka became legendary in the city thanks to leading the Bears to their only Super Bowl title following the 1985 season, but he was sacked after going 5-11 in 1992.

What makes this different from the Tennessee or Tampa Bay Buccaneers rumors?

Gruden coached the Raiders between the 1998 and 2001 seasons. He has a 95-81 career record. Gruden is the flawless match for Oakland and will bring several talented coaches with him.

The Raiders have complied with the "Rooney Rule" and interviewed minority candidates for the job, according to National Football League spokesman Joe Lockhart.

The main opposition Congress, however, will hold another round of talks with like-minded parties before finalising its strategy. The parliamentary affairs minister said the government may table the bill in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

"Well, thank you." Gruden said.

A second person with knowledge of the team's plans said one of the minority candidates who interviewed was tight ends coach Bobby Johnson. Gibbs returned to coaching in 2004 and his second stint in Washington wasn't almost as effective as his first.

DICK VERMEIL: Vermeil had a successful seven-year run as coach of Philadelphia from 1976-82, taking the Eagles to their first Super Bowl following the 1980 season. He came back in 2004 and had a 30-34 record in four seasons, leading Washington to two playoff berths.
